Building 26, Ft. Belvoir, VA
Accessibility Upgrade This highly secured administrative building is a symbolic historic resource on the Fort Belvoir military base which is in the Historic Core of the Virginia Landmarks Register Historic District. With an incoming Assistant Secretary who is a double amputee, the building, erected in 1932, must undergo a renovation to make it fully accessible and barrier free. As part of the fast-tracked design/build contract awarded to Structural Engineering Group (the Prime), AVANTurs LLC provided architectural and engineering design services including existing condition assessments, schematic design through construction documents and construction administration of a new handicap accessible entry sequence and elevator replacement. |
